Pups need celebrating too! While I can’t say I’ve done this every year, our two pups, Murphy and Dixon’s birthdays fall just within weeks of one another. So for being such sweet additions to our families over the years I thought it’d be fun to bake some peanut butter treats with Brooks for their birthdays. With only 5 ingredients, these easy peanut butter dog treats were quick and fun to make to celebrate our furbabies for their birthdays.
Murphy turned 7 this week and my first baby, Dixon, will be 11 on the first of February. Since we will have just moved into our new home around then I wanted to celebrate them both now and not leave sweet Dixon out…b/c Lord knows I won’t want to be adding anything to me list of things to do that first week after moving in! 😅 Brooks and I had a slower day this week, so easy peanut butter dog treats we baked!
Easy Peanut Butter Dog Treats
2 cups whole wheat flour
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/3 cup smooth peanut butter
1 cup almond milk (or any dairy/non-dairy milk you have)
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Line cookie sheet with tin foil or parchment paper, spray with non-stick cooking spray. I personally used my non-stick silicone baking mat. I bought these last year and have loved using them. They’re super easy to clean and you’re not wasting tin foil every time you cook something in the oven.
Mix together dry ingredients (whole wheat flour and baking powder). Begin to add in peanut butter, mix well. Then add wet ingredients (milk and egg). Once mixed well sprinkle extra flour on your counter and hands. The batter will more than likely be sticky so a good trick I learned from my mom when baking is to spread some on the counter to prevent it from sticking to your hands.
Knead out dough to about a 1/4 inch thick. Cut out cookie shaped treats and place on baking sheet. I used a cookie cutter I already had in my stash, but it’d be cute to get a dog bone cookie cutter! Once the cookies were placed on the sheet I pressed little dimples into the dough with my finger to resemble a puppy paw.
Place in preheated oven and cook for 10 minutes. Serve to pups and watch them enjoy!
