3 Photography Tips For Beginners

These last few months things have really picked up with LtL Photography. Since the beginning of 2018 I have actively pursued a genuine community of friends, creatives, clients and inspiring professionals in the Nashville area. I have receivedย suchย positive responses it’s been so motivating. Just from putting myself out there and reaching out to complete strangers through social media has been so rewarding. In just a few months I have learned a few photography basics I wish I’d already known. So today on LtL I’m sharing 3 photography tips I wish someone told me before learning the hard way!3 Photography Tips

Today I wanted to share with y’all 3 photography tips I practice regularly before heading out to meet a client. These might sound like no brainers,ย and I wish I could tell you I hadn’t learned the hard way.๐Ÿ˜“

Location details

Um, this seems like it wouldn’t be a big deal, but surprisingly enough it IS!! I’ve made the presumptuous mistake of thinking the location would be ideal or every available on the day of the shoot. In one of my recent shoots there was a march going onย right around the location we were shooting so all the surrounding streets were blocked off. It’s important to check community news for any event going on the day of your shoot. It’s also important to call your location ahead of time and make sure there are no permits or cost required to shoot there.

SD card check

Again, another no brainer but I’ve planned out a whole day for shooting and didn’t double check my SD cards. I have a setting on my camera where it won’t even take pics without the card in there (recommended), but what about if you DO have the card in there but it isn’t working or formatting correctly. Always check your SD before heading out.

Show up early

This is just a personal presence, I know some photographers who show up an hour before shoot and I know some who show up just minutes before. To each his own, but for me personally, I try to get on location at least 30-45 minutes prior to the shoot meet time. I like to check the lighting, environment and do a walk through of small details I might want to incorporate into the shoot. I actually hate running late to a shoot..and for those who have known me for quite some time you can pick your jaw up now ๐Ÿ˜‚ a girl can change!

I hope these little tips help save you in big ways like that have me…after learning the hard way! Thanks for reading y’all!

Lemons to Love,

Lindsay
