Piles and piles…on piles: a mini blog 📝📚📇

Today it’s piles of laundry (and dog hair), yesterday was piles of to-do lists, tomorrow it’ll be piles of responsibilities…or piles of emotions or piles of old piles I’ve forgotten, neglected or ignored. You get the picture. Sometimes life can just become an overwhelming season of piles. For me, last season was like an overwhelming pile of grief compounded with heavy piles of emotions that crumbled over me brick by brick.

Sometimes when I look back at last year I picture that statue…you know the one of that guy holding Earth on his back? While this is clearly a metaphor to the classic saying of ‘carrying the weight of the world…’ I can’t help but look at it from a deeper angle. Yes, sometimes life hands us heavy piles of garbage we shoulder for ourselves or others and sometimes we, bear with me here, *pile* on that weight ourselves. But regardless of their origin, we’re not meant to carry those weighted piles on our own. That’s how last year felt, holding more than I could bare on my own and just surviving with the emotional weight. And while this season feels much different than last, I still feel the areas that I’m carrying on my own; areas that need refilling, rest, retuning and re-prioritizing - I need intentional mindfulness as to where my energy goes and to which pile.

While I can’t control what kind or how many piles life throws my way, I can control the amount of space I give to them and how they are prioritized in my day-to-day. {continued in comments}

New family favorite 🤌🏼 Beef Ragu by @skinnytaste has been a BIG hit for our in-home dining experience. 👩🏼‍🍳 G and I ate it for almost every meal until it was gone. Now we’re just sad that it’s gone…

*recipes calls for slow cooking 4-6 hours but I just let that baby simmer in our Dutch oven for a little over an hour and it was amazing. I’ve been into cooking our meals lately…do y’all have any family favorites? If YOU’RE thinking we’re crazy for getting another pup…you’d be right 😂🥴😬 But when we saw him we just knew he was meant to be here, with us. 🫶🏼💙 He is a gentle giant and the perfect addition to our pup pod.
