Y’all! I am hashtag too stressed to be blessed! 😜 But seriously…we have been blessed with so many fun adventures here in the PNW and we were recently given the pleasure of hosting my father-in-law (better know as FIL) and his sweet wife! They are so cool, y’all. They flew to Denver from Atlanta, rented an RV and drove cross-country to explore what this great nation has to offer. 🚐 Dope, right?? Get it Grandpa & Memaw!! They were here the whole Labor Day weekend where we hit the ground runnin’ with a weekend packed full of outings. Then, just a few days later I said good-bye to my two handsomes and flew (way) north, but more on that LATER! Side note: I’m currently writing this post in the plane from unmentioned location, jammin’ to my music, and feeling all kinds of accomplished. *pats self on back* 🤓✈️
On day 1 of Grandpa and Memaw adventures we drove down closer to Oregon and met them at one of our most coveted spots here in WA. You may remember our visit to Lower Lewis Falls here, and although this visit met us with rain, that didn’t stop us from ‘soaking’ it all in and camping out. *pun intended*
With B and pups in tow, we arrived to the camp site, got settled in…then headed out to the Ape Caves! I’d always wanted to check them out on our previous visits to Lewis but never had the time to fully commit to the detour. But luckily I can be persuasive (or annoying, dealers choice) and had an eager crowd to try something new so off we went with headlamps securely fastened.
After a quick self-tour we headed back to camp for dinner, campfires, and dranks begging to be consumed. ⛺️🔥 Oh, and did I mention I’ve probably camped twice in my life about a gazillion years ago so I was all in! We brought Bs pack-n-play which obviously would only fit in the RV where Grampa and Memaw were sleeping. 😏 Meanwhile, Geoff and I were in full camping mode sleeping in a tent by the bonfire. Which speaking of, I basically became the bonfire whisperer. Don’t take my word for it…the proof is in the puddin’, know what I mean? *coughs*
Here comes the puddin’ ….
Overall, it was SUCH a fun little PNW adventure with family. The weather wasn’t great, but we made do! It was exhausting at times to relax and parent a crazy toddler in the woods, but we made memories! The night was so freezing sleeping in the tent I basically slept at Camp 1 of the Himalayas, but survived and will bring different sleeping options! 😁 #layers but seriously, it was so fun, we’d do it again…with just some slight alterations! Now, on to day ✌🏼️
Seattle site-seeing post coming soon!
