Well, I didn’t get to cross off as many outings and activities with Brooks as I’d planned (edit: more than what’s shown above), but our summer was full nonetheless with travels to Florida, the lake house, and a few fun adventures as a family and just us two.
Long Hunter State Park
Long Hunter State Park – This is a great, family friendly state park not too far from us! With only being there once, I feel like we only experienced a small section of this (huge) park. It was the perfect day trip for Brooks and me to explore and exercise. The park has boating access, fishing, trails and beautiful views around the lake. Brooks and I enjoyed a nice walk around the lake, which is about 2 miles roundtrip. With about 15 minutes left to our walk his little toddler legs gave out, which meant riding on momma’s shoulders. ???? I loved our day trip to this middle Tennessee park and would love to go back in the fall when the leaves change!

Lucky Ladd Farms
Lucky Ladd Farms – Ya’ll might remember our visit here before for the a day outing and their Tractor Festival, but Lucky Ladd Farms is just south of Nashville and a GREAT place to take your little ones for the day. There is so much to do there! Every time we go I forget just how much there is to do for kids of all ages. From a tractor pull, large slides, petting zoo, and a u-pick garden the list goes on and on. We haven’t been to Lucky Ladd in the fall for their pumpkin patch or corn maze, so that is definitely being added to our fall bucket list!
Cummins Falls State Park
Cummins Falls State Park– During one of our free weekends this summer, Geoff and I packed up the car and took a family drive over to Cummins Falls State Park to explore this beautiful waterfall and hotspot (coolspot?)???????? for cooling off. The website wasn’t joking when it said it was heavily populated. ???? The trail is fairly short and kid (& pup) friendly! Once to the water, the hike to the actual falls is a full commitment. However, there’s plenty of space to go around for everyone to play and splash in the crystal clear waters. This was a great family outing that I’d love to repeat in the fall and earlier in the morning before the crowds come in.
I hope you enjoyed this little summer snippet from our kid friendly outings! Where are some of your favorite places to visit for a day trip around Nashville? Leave me a comment below for any places you think we should visit next!
